He knows he is cute

Tonight as I was putting Zach to bed, I said "Good night punkin." He said with a smile, "Don't say goodnight punkin. Say good night Zachariah."

I know he heard me tell people about the monkey comment so now he's being cute. I told him he was a goose. :-)

The boy is fearless

Tonight we went to Zach and Isabella's friend Katie's birthday party. It was at the YMCA pool and we first had dinner and cake at the picnic tables before swimming. Zach, once again, showed that he has no fear. First he decided to climb this thing...

You can see that he is quite proud of himself. I had to go get him because he couldn't get down by himself, but did that slow him down? No way. About 2 min later I was talking with some other parents at the party when I looked over and saw him hanging by the monkey bars. Then, he dropped (about 8 feet) and Daryl, who was right there, was just able to grab his legs in mid air and slow him down as he hit the ground. He came running over to me crying and I asked him if he was hurt or just scared. "Just scared" was his reply. I thought his might teach him a lesson, but it wasn't long before he was climbing the first thing again. I predict a broken arm before he is out of the house. :-)

Below you can see him with and Isabella with Katie as she was "blowing" out her candle. No one had any matches so she just had to pretend to blow it out. She was fine with that. :-)

Quote of the day

Today I was putting Zach down for his nap and I said, "Goodnight monkey."
As he was hugging me he said, "Don't call me monkey. Curious George is a monkey. Call me Zachariah. Say, 'goodnight Zachariah!'"

I said, "Good night Zachariah" and left the room laughing.

Quote of the day

Today the quote of the day for Zach came at dinner when he was sitting at the table during dinner and said, without provocation, "Mommy, how do you say 'Spanish' in Thai?"

Big Boy

Zach made a couple of big moves this last week in the world of little boys. On Monday we took down his crib and replaced it with a toddler bed and then on Wednesday, we put away the highchair and he moved to the booster at the table. He is pretty happy with the changes. He could get out of his crib anyway, so it is not that big of a change, though last night Liza found him at the foot of his bed on the floor curled up in a ball. I went in and put him back in with out waking him up.

Cheese Rap

Here is a little song from our friends Rhett & Link. They were on staff with CCC for the last 5 years, but now are out on there own doing "internet comedy." Rhett was in my Biblestudy in NYC back in 1998 so I've know him a long time. They've been on a road trip this summer and posting their adventures on youtube and other places. This one, from their stop in Wisconsin, is Zach's favorite.

Funny Moment

Tonight we gave the kids fudge popsicles and Zach REALLY ENJOYED his as you can see below...

8th Anniversary

Liza and I celebrated our 8th anniversary on Tuesday. We had a great day and ended it at the Melting Pot, which is a really nice resturant. We had more food than we could eat and enjoyed a nice quiet evening together .

Here we are before we left for the evening.

We enjoyed the "Big Night Out" which was four courses of fondue. Cheese, then a salad, then the meats (really really good) and then dessert. I have to say, I'm a fan.

And, in between leaving for the night and getting to the melting pot, we said goodbye to our gas eating SUV (Kia Sorento)...

And hello to our new family car. We never really aspired to a mini-van, but this one is really nice. Auto doors and tailgate, 6 DVD changer with drop down screen for the kids, and more room than we know what do to with, until our next trip to Colorado that is.

All in all, it was a great anniversary!

What month is it?

While we were in Houston staying at my mom's, we were eating breakfast one morning and Zach decided it would be great to sing a song. Not only did he want to sing it, but insisted that we all sing along with him. I have to say, it was really cute.

Isabella's haircut

While we were in Houston, we went back to the place where Isabella got her first ever haircut (when she got bangs cut) and had her hair cut again. She'd been wanting to get it cut for a long time, so we finally went. Here are a few pictures from the event...

Before the cut.

Looking very suave as the first layer is cut.

All the way around.

Blow Dry...

The finished hairdo. She looks very cute with the new hair and she loves how easy it is to brush out now.

Silly Face

Tonight we were shopping at IKEA- getting a new desk for Liza and some storage tubs for the kids's toys among other things. While we were going along, Zach started making this silly face. I asked him what he was doing and he said, "I'm making a silly face!" It was so cute, I had to take a picture (or two.) :-)

Ice cream from Grandma Carla and Grandpa Roger

Tonight we went out for ice cream courtesy of their grandparents. We went to Baskin Robbins were we had buy one get one free coupons and all enjoyed a treat. I do have to say that we did not enjoy it quite as much as the kids did though... I told Isabella she had a beard.

Zach wanted to show off his green ice cream beard too...

It sure did taste good!

Thanks grandma and grandpa!

Farmer in the Dell

Tonight we were driving from my sister's house to my moms- just Isabella, Zach and I. As we were driving Isabella started singing "The Farmer in the dell." I said, "The mouse takes the cheese!" She replied, "The cat takes the mouse!" I replied, "The dog takes the cat!" and so on we went until we got to a Lion. I said the lion is the king of the jungle, so who could take him? "The farmer with his gun!" she said. So I asked, "who takes the farmer?" She replied, "The construction worker takes the farmer!" I said, "Hmm, maybe the Doctor takes the construction worker."

At this point, I heard Zach chime in, "Poor construction worker."
Then I said, "The lawyer takes the doctor"
Zach: "Poor doctor."
me: "The judge takes the lawyer"
Zach: "Poor lawyer."
me: "The politician takes the judge"
Zach: "Poor judge"
me: "The president takes the politician"
Zach: "Poor politician."

By this point Isabella and I were laughing so hard we had to quit. :-)
