Why not?

Today Zach found a new badminton set that Grammie had picked up at Walgreens. He picked it up and wanted to play. So, after he asked and received permission, I got it out of the plastic it came in. As we were taking it out, Isabella said, "Can you teach us to play this tennis?" I replied, "Well, yes, but this is not tennis, it is badminton." She thought about it for a second and said, "Daddy, why don't they call it 'goodminton'?" Good question!

3000 Mile Road Trip #3

Here are a few pictures from our trip so far....

Chris, Zach and our newest nephew, Beckham DeGarmo

Beckham being held by Liza

At the Missouri border we stopped for a little break and they had a great playscape.

Isabella took a load off and enjoyed the little break from the road.

Zach wondered what this thing was for...

The kids have had so much fun playing with all their cousins. In Tulsa they had a great time with Addison and Taryn and in Indiana they have had lots of fun with all their cousins. Here Isabella and Aimslie are playing a straw game of their own making.

Zach and Lucas played "whiffle badminton" today.

Zach said it was his favorite part of the day.

Here is his serious look...

And his silly look.

Lucas has done great playing with a much younger Zach.

I saw this and had to take a picture. I called it the "Grammie parking lot."

Pictures from the road trip

Camoflage

Before we left Austin for our summer road trip, we went to the Co-op next to campus at UT to get Isabella a Texas shirt. We had already picked up a UT outfit for Zach and wanted to wear it that day. When we got to the children's department of the store, he saw a bunk bed made up in all Texas longhorns. He immediately ran over to it and jumped in. I thought it was funny because with his UT outfit on, he blended right in.

The 3000 mile road trip

We are on our way and Chris has put a program on his iPhone to blog from the road (no, we don't twitter.)

So,our first funny comments...Isabella was complaining about being cold and Zach offered one of his beloved star blankies. Then he offered her his bunny. Her immediate response with disdain was, "Zach, I don't want disgusto bunny!" chris will have to post a picture but those of you who know Disgusto can appreciate Isabella's response.

We were listening to kids music and Zach asked what "binna" means. He regularly does this. So I sang through the song to discover that he actually heard "up in a" I love what they come up with.

Nursery ready

We had this up for a while, then we took it down since we hadn't sent out the letter to our support team yet telling them about our adoption. Now I'm putting it back up...

With our home study happening on Thursday, we got the nursery set up today. Thanks so much to everyone in the New Parent's class who donated/loaned furniture and decorations!

Before & After

Indie went to the groomer today. It had been since the beginning of March and she was looking pretty woolly. Here are the pics:

I want to be...

They other day the kids were watching "Mighty Machines" on Netflix through the Tivo. They love that show. This one was about firetrucks. I came in to see what they were watching and Isabella declared, "When I grow up I want to be a fireman!" Then Zach chimed in, "Yeah! When I grow up, I want to be a fire TRUCK!"

Liza later told me that her brother Noel also wanted to be a fire truck when he grew up, so it must be genetic. :-)

Fun at the park

Our PT Cruiser had been acting up for quite a while, overheating if we were in traffic or stopping at a lot of lights. So, I took it in last Monday to have it checked out. They ended up replacing the fan assembly, the thermostat and water outlet that was leaking. What does this have to do with the park? For 2 days I was home with the kids and no car, so we did a lot of traveling by bicycle and bike trailer.

On Wednesday we went to the park and the kids had a great time playing on the climbing wall and the tire swing.

Isabella figured out that she could sit in the middle of the tire swing and balance it out that way. She had lots of fun going very high and spinning around. Zach was not interested in all at going around in circles....

Pictures by Zach

A few days ago Zach got a hold of the camera and took some, shall we say, experimental genre, pictures. He started with a self portrait, but then got a bit more creative...

I like how Indie is looking at the camera in this one like, "What the heck are you doing?"
